Full Circle
A little girl grabs her moms skirt
Can we do it?
Can we go do it now?
She whines and whines
Until her mother laughs
And allows the child
To drag her outside
They kneel down
On the damp dirt
And the girl digs a little hole
She gently lays the seed on the ground
Before covering it and scampering backwards
Now remember
Whispered her mom
There are no promises in this world
But this should hopefully turn into a tree
And what we planted today
Will be around for years to come
They left the yard and went inside
And within a year moved away
Over the decades the lone seed
Grew and grew and grew
Until it was a lovely tree
That childre
I was born in a room with two windows
In a house that serviced the dead
And oh how my mother wept, for there were no blonde curls on my head
Just a baby girl who didn't like socks on her toes
I had a name like winter, from a country of old
Though it was my grandfather's tongue
From which my words would unfold
Barefoot and walking I still could not tell
Why I loved the way the candle flames burned
For you see it was shortly after that I learned
I lived in a world where dead things used to dwell
Chandeliers high up in the ceiling
Ivory lace curtains and flower vines on paper walls
My home gave everyone a funny feeling
From my win
He studied the body on the table,
how the hair grew clockwise
and tried to guess her name.
Maybe Linda, like his sister -
still in school and studying
how men dealt
with the end of the world.
Perhaps Jenny,
demure with eyes
that never gazed past her yard
or guessed how much
the sun weighed.
Or Saroya, as exotic
as the indigo blouse
open and gasping at the ceiling.
There is no life
at the end of the rope
he thought,
his hands deftly rearranging
the color of her cheeks
into something almost living.
Just guess work and apologies
and too many hours
left for someone else
to clear away.

Adoration From Afar
You and I, in the nothingness of preconceived minds.
Tangling webs of angels and demons alike.
The past bound us together,
The future is merciless for mere mortals...
And you are just an image.
I will be your sunshine
Keeping your day alight
If you will be my moonlight
Shining through the night
I will be your wind
In the heat of every day
If you will be my warmth
That keeps the cold away
I will be your heart
Never shall I betray
If you will be my head
And lead me not astray
I feel like a painting once on the wall.
Just something to look at,
Nothing more at all.
Once I was vibrant,
Then faded away,
All of my content,
Did betray.
Now I'm alone,
And turned away...
Rejected and thrown,
Left to decay.
As it began raining,
What paint was left did wash away,
Now I'm an empty canvas,
And there's nothing left to display.
Can't you see?
Sitting here, can't you see,
See what you mean to me?
You deny my truths,
And won't let me give proof.
There're tears in her eyes
No matter how hard she tries.
She just won't believe
That I'll never leave,
And that she
Means a lot to me.
She always puts herself way down,
Even though you'll never see her frown.
She hates herself. You see,
From her demons, she's not free.
There're tears in her eyes
No matter how hard she tries.
She just won't believe
That I'll never leave,
And that she
Means a lot to me.
She honestly thinks that
She's worthless, hated, unwanted, and fat.
She truly doesn't see
How amaz
